UIA Annual Business Law Forum Geography and Digital World in Amsterdam co-organised by bpv Huegel

Gerhard Fussenegger, Partner in our Brussels and Vienna office, is leading the discussion of the Competition Law Panel at the 11th UIA Annual Business Law Forum  „Geography and the Digital World“ in Amsterdam.

Digital commerce and the Internet are creating an increasingly complex challenge to traditional legal concepts concerning jurisdiction, regulation, taxation, digital privacy, competition and freedom of speech. What may be normal and permissible in one country may be prohibited in another.

The UIA Annual Business Law Forum Geography and the Digital World in Amsterdam is co-organised by bpv Huegel and focuses on digital commerce, which is creating an increasingly complex challenge to traditional legal concepts. Based on this far-reaching digitalisation, panels of the Forum discuss the different approaches and issues in various areas of law, such as finance, M&A, taxation and competition law. The latter Competition Law Panel, which is moderated by Gerhard, will focus on recent competition issues (e.g., big data, pricing, merger control) and the question whether the contemporary legal framework still allows competition authorities to address possible competition concerns.
