Representatives from bpv Huegel Discuss Current Challenges in Competition Law at the International LIDC Congress in Götheborg

29 September 2023

This year, the International Competition Law League (LIDC https://www.ligue.org/congress/2023/) held its annual congress in Götheborg, Sweden. There was a lively exchange with about 100 participants from Europe, Ukraine (online) India and China on current topics of antitrust law, intellectual property and unfair competition. Our colleague Andrea Zinober prepared the national report on the Austrian legal situation on the question of evidence of use registered trademarks and trademark applications in bad faith after the ECJ’s decision on Sky v SkyKick. Our colleague Gerhard Fussenegger also contributed to current topics of antitrust law.

During the two-day congress, top-class panels with participants from the European Commission, the Universities of Stockholm and Bergen discussed current topics such as “greenwashing” in advertising (see also our Breakfast Briefing in May) as well as the new Guidelines for the Assessment of Horizontal Cooperation Agreements of the European Commission. Rounded off by a social program with a boat trip, a visit to the opera and an excursion to the archipelago, it was a successful event that once again proved how important the international exchange with colleagues is, both professionally and personally.
