Johannes Mitterecker is specialized in corporate law, M&A transactions and restructurings. An industry focus is on private equity, venture capital and start-ups. Another area of practice includes corporate and regulatory advice to, among others, alternative investment funds, investment funds, family offices, fund managers and investment firms.

An interdisciplinary focus is sports law. Here, Johannes Mitterecker advises in particular on athlete transfers, marketing and advertising contracts, sports association and disciplinary issues, as well as club disputes.

Publications und lectures

Johannes Mitterecker is the editor and author of numerous publications on corporate, capital markets and business law as well as sports law, including the manuals “Shareholder Disputes” and “Manual of Austrian Sports Law”. He is co-editor and author of the soon to be published commentaries on the Austrian Takeover Act (ÜbG) as well as on the Austrian Alternative Investment Fund Manager Act (AIFMG). Johannes Mitterecker is a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna and regularly lectures on his special fields at universities and at professional congresses.

Johannes Mitterecker holds a doctorate from both the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business, as well as an LL.M. from the Ivy League University Columbia in New York. He is with bpv Huegel since 2021. Prior to that, he worked for several years at renowned law firms in Austria and abroad. Johannes Mitterecker is admitted to the bar in both Austria and New York.
