As one of only a few Austrian law firms, bpv Huegel has had a permanent presence in Brussels for many years. Consequently, European law has particular importance in the main areas of specialisation of the firm. The competition law team advises and represents clients in connection with all questions of European competition law. A particular strength of bpv Huegel is the specialisation in general European law. This field mainly deals with issues of the European internal market, State aid and environmental law. Moreover, bpv Huegel has acted in several cases as legal adviser to the European Commission in proceedings before the European Court of Justice. A particular focus is also the advice given to and representation of enterprises and institutions in connection with the preparation of new European legislation or with treaty infringement proceedings.
