Stefan Gaug has been part of the Corporate/M&A team at bpv Huegel since 2002 and has been a partner in this area since 2011. His main practice areas are M&A and corporate law. In addition, he advises on financing and contract law mandates.

Mandates
Stefan has advised national and international clients on a large number of acquisitions and corporate law measures, in particular corporate reorganisations. His focus is mainly on cross-border mandates.

  • Advice of the NYSE listed Cemex Group on the sale of Cemex Austria AG to the Rohrdorfer Group
  • Advice of a PE investor on several acquisition projects, including the acquisition of Austrian ski manufacturer Kästle
  • Advice of FLE Group in connection with the financing of the acquisition of a total of 11 Metro and Makro Cash&Carry wholesale stores in Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary with a volume exceeding €250 million
  • Advice of German Melo Group on several acquisition projects, most recently the acquisition of a stake in the Austrian press logistics joint venture Cargoe
  • Advice of Sapura Offshore Sdn Bhd in connection with an Austrian joint venture with Seadrill Seabras UK Limited
  • Advice of Cemex Group on the cross-border merger (merging transformation) of the Austrian holding company Cemex International Holding AG onto its Swiss parent company with a volume exceeding €900 million
  • Advice of German Rehau Group on several acquisition projects in Austria
  • Advice of Central European Gas Hub AG in connection with several acquisition projects, in particular in the CEE region

In 2019 and 2020 Stefan was ranked as “Notable Practitioner” in IFLR 1000, Legal 500 mentions him as “key member” of the M&A Team of bpv Huegel.

Education and professional background
After completing his Master of Laws at the University of Vienna in 2000, Stefan studied at the University of Sheffield (1999 Erasmus) and completed an LL.M. in Law and Economics at the University of Manchester in 2001. Stefan has been with bpv Huegel since 2002, Associate Partner since 2007 and Partner since 2011.
